Design Tidbits Browser Size We design for 800X600 because that is the setting over half of your online viewers use. This allows those viewers to easily see the content on your site whether viewing in a large or small browser window. The site on a browser set to 1024X768 will appear different than a browser set at 800X600. FramesIf you decide to use frames we suggest not using more than 2 or 3 unless absolutely necessary. The frames in the site above are running horizonal. Frames can run horizontal or vertical. You can also combine the two. It depends on what will work the best for your site when organizing and displaying your information.
Choosing Color schemes If you would like people to be able to print information from your site, It is best to go with a light background and dark text. Using a dark background and light text is unreadable when printed. You can get around this problem by using tables. That way, you can have the best of both worlds. For an example of a dark background and printable text visit: windermeregolfclub All browsers view colors differently. What looks a medium shade of blue on one, may look a darker blue on another. Its just the way the settings are on a paticular computer. Just like the colors on TV's. Deciding on a Look & Feel for your siteWhen deciding on a look try to keep in mind, who your target audience is and what type of information your site will contain. You could look at it like there are basically two types of sites. There are sites like Yahoo, or CNN that offer lots of information as soon as you enter the site. And then there are sites like Coca Cola or ToniGuy.com where design comes first and information comes later. |
